Addressing the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Monday, US President Donald Trump denounced Iran’s involvement in conflicts throughout the Middle East.
“Iran’s leaders sow chaos, death and destruction,” Trump said. “They plunder the nations resources to enrich themselves and to spread mayhem across the Middle East and far beyond.”
Trump also addressed the reasons for the United States’s withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
“The US has launched a campaign of economic pressure to deny Tehran the funds for its bloody agenda,” Trump said.
Additional sanctions will resume on November 5, with more to follow, Trump said.
